Chuq's efforts to straighten out the Mac groups inspired me to take on a similar attempt with the IBM PC newsgroups. I propose following the same voting guidelines as Chuq is going to use for the Mac groups. (Note that these aren't the same as the usual rules.) Discussion of this proposal should only appear in news.groups and will last at least 2 weeks. At that time if a consensus has developed around the proposals then a CALL FOR VOTES will be made. Here is the first proposal: 1) create comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc and eventually rmgroup comp.sys.ibm.pc 2) create comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware For PC/XT/AT & EISA hardware 3) create comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware For Microchannel hardware 4) create comp.sys.ibm.pc.dos-apps For MS-DOS application discussions 5) create comp.sys.ibm.pc.os2-apps For OS/2 application discussions 6) create comp.sys.ibm.pc.questions For general user questions & answers 7) create comp.sys.ibm.pc.wanted For wanted postings comp.sys.ibm.pc.programmer would remain as is. comp.sys.ibm.pc.digest would remain as is.
