[comp.sys.ibm.pc.programmer] pointers and the limitations of Mix Power C

steve@thelake.mn.org (Steve Yelvington) (05/31/90)

I'm thinking about buying Mix Power C (since it is cheap) in order to port
a small, fast implementation of Usenet news from the Atari ST to the PC.
One potential problem is that rnews sucks an entire article into one big
mallocked array of char before massaging it. I would prefer not to have to
worry about dropping items on the floor because they exceeded some
mysterious (to me, anyway) PC limitation of pointer access and/or memory
allocation. I'm used to one nice, big, flat address space. Am I going to
run into problems with Power C in this regard?

Please reply via e-mail. This newsgroup doesn't exist at thelake. Thanks.
