[comp.sys.ibm.pc.programmer] PCcurses beta testers wanted...

frotz@drivax.UUCP (Frotz) (07/13/90)

I have what constitutes the 1.5 release of PCcurses. I have made
substantial changes to the 1.3 release and have incorporated the
slight changes from the 1.4 release. As I have not heard from Bjorn
Larsson in the last few months and I have promised far too many people
that I would release this "Real Soon Now" (TM, somebody...), I will be
needing about 4-8 beta testers. I will support up to 12, but no more
than that, as I am barely able to make time for this test cycle.

There are a few people out there who have received a 1.3.1 release of
PCcurses. If you have the time and are interested please respond. I
want to be able to release to comp.sources.misc or
comp.binaries.ibm.pc by the end of August.

Here is a list of the major functional improvements over the 1.3 and 1.4
releases:
	Direct Video Memory support
	*OPTIONAL* BIOS support
	Resizable windows.
	Full color window support.
	Window Titles (Left/center/right justified)
Control over which malloc/free the library uses (yours or std routines)
	Ported to FlexOS, a real-time, multi-tasking, multi-user OS.
		(Sorry for the small ad...;-)
Legal leg work indicating that Bjorn Larsson is not infringing upon
Pavel Curtis' work with Ncurses and that Pavel Curtis did
not infringe upon anyone else's work.

Currently, internal DRI users have tested PCcurses under DOS in small and
large model. If you have Turbo C 2.0 and would be willing to test it under
some model other than small, or large, please let me know.

I also need help testing or doing the following:
	MCGA Mono and Color.
		Testing only
	Hercules all ranges of cards.
		Unique hardware determination needed.
	Your own special adapters...
		Unique hardware determination needed.
		Unique sizes needed.
	Better window printing support...
	Help with EGA clones...
		Unique determination
EGA Cursor Emulation and command line TSRs
correctly resetting the cursor on exit
Compiler environments other than Turbo C 2.0 and NDMAKE 4.5
		Compiler specific makefiles...
Extracting internal comments into a short PCcurses manual...
