>I've recently added a CD-ROM drive to my system. In the installation >instructions it talks about part of the software that it uses >to make the drive work as implementing "the MS CD-ROM extensions". >What are these, and where can I find documentation on how to use >them from my own programs? (All the books on MS-DOS I can find, >even the "advanced" ones, if they even mention CD-ROMs, say >"outside the scope of this book".) The extensions are contained in an executable file (MSCDEX.EXE) that should have been included with your drive. The contents of the file vary according to the hardware platform and computer interface used. If you bought a CD-ROM drive and didn't get this file, complain to your dealer. If that doesn work - return it and buy from someone who knows what he's selling!
