[comp.sys.ibm.pc.programmer] Trying to find a copy of PROLOG!

lamb@cs.widener.edu (Steve Lamb) (05/08/91)

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of PROLOG or TURBO PROLOG??
I'm not sure if it is still on the market I can't seem to find it. I know
it is from Borland but nobady seems to care it anymore. If any info please
 e-mail.

Turbo Prolog is not sold by borland anymore. It was origionally
developed by PDC (Prolog Development Centre), somewhere in europe.
They have taken it back over and are still marketing it. Go get a
copy of Computer Language Mag or Dr. Dobbs and find their add. It's
supposed to be a nice product. You might be able to find turbo prolog
at something like programmers connection as well. Sometimes they have
old copies. Since you are on the east coast, if you would like a
shrink wrapped copy, Univ of MD book store still has both prolog as
well as the toolbox for sale. Pretty cheap. They also have sprint.
UMD is located in College Park, MD, just north of Wash DC. You know
us, we have riots....

You probably don't want to use Borland's Prolog. One, Borland sold it to
another company a while back and two, it wasn't a full implementation anyway!

We use a program called LPA Prolog at college. From what I gather from staff it
is quite a good implementation and academic pricing is available.

I believe the program comes from the UK but I have seen it advertised in the
US. A scan through a computer journal like DR DOBBS should produce a company
selling it.

Best of luck!
