[list.netnws-l] Why NETNEWS?

Mike Harpe <MAILMNT%ULKYVM.bitnet@ugw.utcs.utoronto.ca> (02/13/90)

I know that sounds like a silly title, I KNOW why. I am wondering what
different sites who have NETNEWS online and backed by management did
to justify it.

There is a lot of resistance due to the usual considerations; DASD, CPU
and general "is this something we should be doing" kinds of questions.

I'd just like some general comment and feedback. Who knows? Maybe
i'll have something to point to out of it.

Thanks very much.

saves spool space, easy to use, access to more newsgroups, easy
to define departmental conferences (we don't have a listserv).
its good for us, etc. etc.
