[bit.listserv.politics] 3090 on vacation

JWALES3@UA1VM.BITNET (Jimbo) (02/13/90)

Alas, this weekend the IBM 3090 here went on vacation (Bahamas, I
think) and so I was unable to complete my rent control posting as previously
promised. However: it is coming soon.

Perhaps some of you are 'downstream' or 'upstream' from here,
thus explaining the delay experienced in your
Politics mail.

Alabama is civilised area between the North and Florida, you know.

Speaking of this, I got a Florida land scam brochure in the
mail today. Now, imagine the following. These people are trying
to get me to pay money for land in Florida, so presumably, they
are trying to make this place look attractive, right? They want
to say something which will make me desire to go live in Florida....
They are trying to put this plot in Florida in the best possible
light....

And so, the brochure opens with:

"If you LOVE New England, You'll LOVE Citrus Hill Florida!"

Yeah, right. "It's just like New England, without the winter...."
And this is supposed to make me want to spend my retirement there?
Egads, the sooner I leave this god-forsaken corner of the country,
the better. Head back down to Dixie. (Nothin' personal, Jamie,
but I guess I prefer Virginia ....) I mean, I'll admit that this
Yankee territory is not a total loss...for example, there is 95 South.
Still, seeing what passes for Northern Hospitality, and the Northern
Gentlemen, it is no wonder they fought to keep the South around.
(And despite their best efforts during the cultural rape and
retaliation of reconstruction, they have neither destroyed Southern
culture, nor improved their own.)

  YEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAH!
  The SOUTH shall Rise Again!
