>Germany- > >The ultra-conservatives(neo-Nazis?) want the Polish border question to be the >first order of business in the reunification schedule, and are pressuring Kohl >to resolve that issue of German land given to Poland in 1945-6 before entering >into talks with the so-called Big Four. That isn't quite right. Kohl and his CDU/CSU Party don't want to give guaranty for Polands west border ( Oder/Neisse ) now. ( At least before the elections in fall ) This is due to Kohl's aim to keep the extreme right "Republikaner" down. Also the organizations of the refugees ( Vertriebenen ) of the former german east- territories ( Schlesien/Ost-Preussen .. ) are strictly against guaranties for poland. The SPD wants guaranties now. ( declared by the west and east Parliaments ) This should improve the speed of the unification, and cool down Poland. ( which wants to get into the 4+2 talks ). Otmar.
