A few days ago, Gene Glass sent out several suggestions about how to improve communications on the list. One of his suggestions involved a technique for including a portion of text from an earlier message in a new message so that the reader can know the context of the reply. Since Gene's message described the technique for CMS, I thought some of you might be interested in how to do it from a VAX. The trick is to enter the command FORWARD/EDIT while reading the message. This command will allow you to edit the message and then re-send it whereever you want, like back to EDPOLYAN. You can add new text either before or after the original message. One suggestion: start the message with something like "On February 12, so-and-so said...." and set off the original message with quotation marks. That way everyone can see exactly what you're talking about. Also, be sure to delete the old header. I hope my explanation is clear. If it isn't, or if it doesn't work, please let me know. Enjoy EDPOLYAN!
