What is a "vm/sp"?? It sounds IBMish. If so, there is a version of ARC/INFO which runs and well as IBM's own "GIS" which is not worth considering -- especially if you are worrying about $$$.

Hi, Is there any GIS wich I could use on the vm/sp? Thank you Rui Tegon.

Does ESRI have any IBM installations? Not the pc variety, but something on one of the bigger machines under VM/CMS. I heard that U. Maryland might be trying it, but I don't know for sure. jd

The University of Vienna, Austria, has an ARC/INFO installation on an IBM 3090 under VM/CMS. We have ARC/INFO Version 4.0.1 beta running and are still waiting for the production release of version 4. The modules available are ARC, ARCEDIT, ARCPLOT and NETWORK. We have problems with NETWORK (it bombs on initialization). The other modules work quite well with minor problems. The systems currently only supports IBM 3179G, 3192G and 5080. Plots can be made on IBM and HP plotters with HP-GL.
