Is there an equivalent program to Sun's rdump for Concurrent systems? Rdump performs a remote dump across a network so that your entire network can be backed up from one machine. -- Dan dan@seti.jpl.nasa.gov Articles to: concurrent@soma.bcm.tmc.edu or uunet!soma.bcm.tmc.edu!concurrent Administrative stuff: concurrent-request@soma.bcm.tmc.edu Stan Barber, Moderator

I also wanted rdump since I like to backup machines over the network to an exabyte drive rather than my concurrent's cartridge. I called concurrent support a few months ago asking about rdump for my masscomp 6750. They said that they had no plans to make rdump available since their seemed to be no great demand for it. We started using "find | cpio | rsh " but I found that the find program supplied by concurrent was buggy and failed when using -local and -mount options together. Even after reporting the bug and getting a fix we still had problems. The solution was to use gnutar. It handles devices and also uses rmt like rdump for remote machines. It doesn't output nice statistics during the dump and its not as nifty doing restores but I prefer it to cpio. --Kaveh -- Kaveh R.
