[bit.listserv.cics-l] CICS development on a PC

V2057A@TEMPLEVM.BITNET (Juan Jose Noyles) (02/05/90)

I'm about to purchase Realia COBOL & RealCICS. It's $995/component ($1990
for these two). They let you evaluate it for a month before you buy. It's
so compatible with IBM's OS COBOL/CICS, they give you an IBM manual as the
major documentation!

I won't be on again until next weekend, so you may want to call Chicago's
information and ask for Realia, Inc.

Addendum: It does emulate VSAM, and has a source level debugger. I don't
know much about CICS at this point (negotiating for training now. Do you
know of any good 'schools' in the Philadelphia PA area?), but from going
through their demo code it seems pretty good. They also have a screen
painter available, DL/1 emulation ($995 as well. The screen painter is
substantially cheaper though, about $100-200, I think).

I'm also trying to get it through a computer store. It will cost $1695 that
way.
