Quite some time ago I posted a request to net.general, asking for
possible paths to a BITNET host. I received several responses to the
request and would like to summarize for the.
Most of the responses involved routing through UCBVAX
in the following manner:
ucbvax!<user's name>@<BITNET-machine>.BITNET
For me, that worked and I am now in touch with the person
at that site. One person suggested an alternate routing through
psuvax, that replacing 'ucbvax' above.
However, that wasn't the end of the story. It seems that the mailer
at the target site didn't know how to reply to the sender. In fact, it
was only barely aware that there were nets other than BITNET. My thanks
to tim@VPIVM1 for unscrambling the documentation and figuring out how
to get mail *out* of VPIVM1.
