I am not an expert by no means, but they tend to be different styles. All of the stuff that has been called high-life seems to have a horn section a la James Brown, and rhythms that combine American mo-town with african tradition. JuJu is a tradition in itself that goes back. I have a record of some JuJu from the 40s and before, and the liner notes (done by an old schoolmate from my Urbana days who did his ethnomusicology studies in Nigeria) might have some better information.
