Grutz (I think): Jerry Garcia writes only the music, not the lyrics. Robert Hunter writes the lyrics, and then Jerry writes music to fit. I'm not sure about Bob Weir's songs....... Paul McCartney said of the Sgt. Peppers album, something like: We wanted to create an album that could be appreciated by people of all ages, from little kids to grandparents. So that's probably why the music is such a mix of different styles. The Beatles producer, George Martin, was also a HUGE influence on their sound; he was the one who orchestrated the songs, and often played some of the instruments (the organ interlude on the song "In My Life" was played by George M.) more Beatles stuff later.....
