Thanks for all the suggestions on my problems with LB710. The problem turned out to be that I was running the job from a tape backup of the journal, and LB710 attempts to update the Journal records. This upsets tape processing to the turn of an OC1. To continue the Saga, I commented out the write statement just after label PUTJRNL and now it reads the journal just fine. But there are a myriad of other problems with the program and job stream. It appears that when LB710 runs, it updates a tape header record with the current date. When the month rolls over and the journal coming in has data from only one month, the program updates the date header. Therefore when I process Jan 31's tape on feb 1, it rewirtes the date header as Feb 01. Then when I process Feb 01 records, it thinks that the month has not changed, and srites them on the end of January's records. Sorry to be so long winded, but this program is not really ready for production. NSI is working on straightening it out, and should have a fix in the works.
