My original message came back from network mailer so I this should not be a repeat. Carol Falgiano, Tech 1 U of Delaware, and I believe we have found a change between 4.5 and 4.6 related to the status code in the item record. Under 4.6, if an item's status code is changed from A (active) to W (withdrawn) charge information will not be written to the charge file when the batch jobs for circ are run. It seems that under 4.6, the program is only looking for the A as the status code and if it finds the A, it then looks for charge information. If it sees a W, it skips on past that record. If you charge an item and discharge it prior to running the batch jobs, all is fine. But it seems that NOTIS allows the system to charge an item to a coded W item record which then will not write the charge info to the charge file. When you discharge the item, it gives you a 665c abend which means it can not find any charge info. Also, once you've put charge info on a W item record, NOTIS does not allow you to change the status code. Carol reported this to NOTIS last week. She also has been using a software product that I think is called VSAM-ISBF which allows her to go in to the NOTIS data and change it. So she has used this product to change the W to an A and we have been able to clean up the item record and charge info that way. If we hear any news about this from NOTIS (or if someone has different info) we'll put it on the list. Stuart Glogoff Lib1 U of Delaware Library epo27855@udacsvm
