The site i'm working at is looking at an upgrade from it's 4381-2(16meg) to a ?4381-13(32meg). Beside's the processor performance the Memory is really needed. The question: Is there any products out there that would allow us to take advantage of the extra 16meg without going to HPO. We heard that EMC had it, don't know where it went. Thank's for the memory, buy what about the software budget? Steven W. Huggins <SWH@NASVM.bitnet>

We were considering going the EMC "over 16 meg" route and in retrospect I must say I am glad we did not. We were able to find the money for HPO and experience has shown that, for us, it really delivers value for the money. The EMC software will only allow you to cut down on paging overhead by using the extra real memory available. HPO will allow you to get more out of your CPU and present a more responsive system to your users all around. By the way, just in case you think there's an IBMer on this end, we really cut costs by going to the used to market for our extra 16 meg. It's IBM memory, is maintained by IBM, but only cost one third of IBM list.
