[bit.listserv.pagemakr] Fontware for Pagemaker

JMURRELL@DRUNIVAC.BITNET (IF MUSIC BE FOOD OF LOVE.....) (02/02/90)

Has anyone tried using the same bitstream Softfonts (Fontware) which you
installed for Pagemaker with WordPerfect? If so, please let me know.

Thanks.

"Has anyone tried using the same bitstream Softfonts (Fontware)
which you installed for Pagemaker with WordPerfect?"

Yes, I have, and it works quite well. But I cheat. I use
SoftCraft's installation programs. These programs generate
Bitstream fonts and install Bitstream and other fonts in Windows
and WordPerfect.

Specifically, the SoftCraft Fontware Program takes a typeface
outline package and produces font files in any sizes from 3 to
120 points. This performs the same function as Bitstream's own,
but does it faster and works seamlessly with WYSIfonts!.
SoftCraft's WYSIfonts! provides menu-driven installation of
fonts for Windows, Pagemaker, and Ventura Publisher. It installs
existing soft fonts as well as fonts produced by the SoftCraft
Fontware Program. SoftCraft's Laser Fonts installs fonts for
WordPerfect 5.0. The company also sells installation programs
for other word processors.

To use the programs, you start out as you would with Bitstream's
product. You specify what point sizes you want to generate for
each of the outlines you have installed on your disk, and then
the SoftCraft Fontware Program generates the font files and
automatically passes control to Laser Fonts and WYSIfonts! to do
the program-specific installation. It works very well.
Miscellaneous HP-compatible bit-mapped fonts you might have lying
around from any source can also be installed to do double duty in
WordPerfect and Pagemaker. Of course, all this can be controlled
manually if, for example, you simply want to add a couple of
fonts to one program only. Another neat feature of Laser Fonts
is its ability to "clean up" your WordPerfect .ALL file by
removing font definitions for any fonts that are not currently
present on your hard drive. This is useful for getting rid of
all those font definitions that come with the WordPerfect driver,
but for which nobody has the fonts.

I enthusiatically recommend these programs, and suggest that
those interested take a look at some of SoftCraft's other
products, such as the Font Editor, Font Effects, and SpinFont.

No, I'm not affiliated with this company.
