We must be very careful about using different routing table generators. There is one problem which was not mentioned yet: Different generators may use different algorithms for finding the shortest path or for selecting one path among several of equal resistance. This will sooner or later cause files and messages to loop in the network as happened several times in the past when not all tables in ring connections had been generated by GENROUTS, or were generated from from different versions of BITEARN NODES. Conclusion: Only such routing table generators may be used (at least for ring connections) which use exactly the same algorithms. Local overrides of link or node resistances must also be prohibited.
