[bit.listserv.nodmgt-l] GR

SPONSELL@AKRONVM.BITNET (Gary Sponseller) (02/28/90)

Thanks Peter for the explanations... And, of course, the GRIBM EXEC
was sent to me last night (I'm AFD-subscribed to the file and it was
*just* stored on NETSERV@BITNIC!).

I tried the GRIBM EXEC and that runs GR without a problem. :-)

One last note: Is there any move to get the value of the :abbr. tag
put back into the NETINIT file as a comment?
Two or three other informational values are also
missing, but the site name seems to be the most helpful.

The :abbr tag is being replaced by the :member tag in the new NODES
file format. If you look at the current REQUIRED INFO1 file you will
see that :abbr is not longer a required field. The limitation on the
length of the :member tag is significantly longer than the :abbr tag
so using :member in its place may not give you the desired result.

I think we're all going to have to get used to its disappearance.
