newsbytes@clarinet.com (02/04/90)

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA, 1990 FEB 1 (NB) -- The Queensland
state stamp duties office has awarded a contract to NCR for
the installation of a system consisting of Tower 32/850
supermicros, NCR intelligent terminals and dumb terminals.
Software developer QCOM is to developUnix software
for the network.

The state of Queensland is two and a half times the size of
Texas, but with only 15 percent of the population so the
network will be thinly spread but must still ensure data
security and reliability. This is the first core application
in the stamp duties department consigned to
Unix.
