	(Uniroyal)
The Uniroyal Chemical plant in Elmira says it wants to check out a
set of test results on its waste water. The numbers show the water
holds six-times the acceptable level of a cancer-causing chemical.
Those results have prompted the provincial government to order
Uniroyal to shut down for the second time in two weeks.
After the last order, the plant agreed to follow a provincial plan
to eliminate the chemical from its water.

	(Fraud)
A bookkeeper who's due to be sentenced for defrauding her company
of more than 100-thousand dollars, has admitted to embezzling another
150-thousand from her next employer.
Thirty-nine-year-old Patricia Morrison has pleaded guilty to
defrauding Complete Rent-All of Hamilton in 1987. She says she altered
company cheques to make them payable to herself.
	She'll be sentenced next Thursday.

	(SexCharges)
A 53-year-old Metro Toronto constable is expected to appear in a
Barrie provincial court today... facing charges on 10 sex offences. The
officer was charged yesterday in connection with incidents involving his
daughter since the time she was a baby.
The officer will be in court for a bail hearing on five counts of
indecent assault, three counts of gross indecency, one of sexual assault
and one of attempted incest.

	(Language)
An executive member of the Manitoba Conservatives says Sault Ste.
Marie has made the right decision by declaring itself English-only.
Grant Russell says services in French aren't needed... it's just
that a select few want to push the point. He says English-speaking
people across the country are getting fed up with demands for more
French services.
Russell maintains francophones shouldn't get special treatment in
Ontario because anglophones aren't getting a fair shake in Quebec.

	(Debates)
The candidates fighting for the leadership of the Ontario
Conservatives will tour the province for a series of debates. Six dates
have been set... starting in Orillia this month and wrapping up in
Toronto at the end of April.
So far, M-P-Ps Michael Harris of Nipissing and Dianne Cunningham of
London North have entered the race. Cam Jackson, the M-P-P for
Burlington South says he'll announce his intentions on February 12th.
The debating schedule also includes Ottawa, Chatham, Sudbury and
Thunder Bay.
