Convective Outlook...reference AFOS NMCGPH94O

Valid 131500 - 141200Z

No severe thunderstorms forecasted.

General thunderstorms tonight to right of line from Oklahoma City, OK
Chanute, KS..St. Louis, MO..Indianapolis, IN..Lexington, KY..Monteagle, TN
Tupelo, MS..Shreveport, LA..Dallas, TX..Oklahoma City, OK.

40 knot low level jet southern Texas opening up western Gulf...but there
is only shallow moisture available at this time over Gulf. Sufficient
moisture should be transported northward and lifted across cold dome
pressing southward through plains by tonight for a few thunderstorms.
Deeper moisture will move inland after this forecast period as middle
level winds back ahead of approaching deep upper low now digging into
southwestern u.s.

Reduced onshore trajectory should keep convective precipitation with cold
upper low in Pacific Northwest today in the form of showers and not
thunderstorms as moisture will be quite limited.

NMC Heavy Snow Discussion...reference AFOS graphic 93S
Valid February 131800 to 140600

Vorticity maximum within west side of western 500 millibar height trough
will dig south-southeastward into California... carrying some locally
heavy snows along with it from Oregon Cascades to California Sierra
range. As it moves southward it should also produce two to four inch
snows in central to eastern Nevada...to north of surface low. Meanwhile...
upper system in north-eastern Oregon will be kicked eastward across
northern Rockies...causing locally heavy snows in higher elevations of
Idaho. Jet stream dynamics southeast of this system will enhance upslope
snows in southern Wyoming and possibly northern Colorado...resulting in
four inch amounts. Farther north in upslope region...two to four inch
amounts can be expected from northwestern Montana southeastward.
