Has anyone seen this before? I have KStar, version 7.0, running in a KFP-4, being administered from atalkad version 1.2 on a SUN 3/280S, SUNOS 4.0.1. I use this to launch aufs sessions (CAP version 5.0). Everything's fine for a while until an aufs session fails to exit properly, ie a forked aufs process, instead of exiting, shows up as an unkillable entry (in disk wait), in the process table. Once one of these rogues appears, subsequent new "aufs"es will go in to the same state, hanging the Mac on attempts to copy data. The bad session SEEMS to be the result of an unclean powerdown of a mac, but I can't be sure as the problem is not reproducible. I have not been able to make this happen using a SUN IV / 4.0.3. Your insight would be appreciated; I'll post what I learn. --- mark@cs.surrey.ac.uk Mark Ellis, Computing Officer, Department of Mathematics University of Surrey, Guildford GU2 5XH, Surrey, England +483 571281 x2626
