When you install OS/2 something funny happens to your Master Boot Record (sector 1 of head 0 of track 0 of your first hard disk). I don't know what it is, but it will prevent AIX from booting from the hard disk, even after you remove OS/2. I did a low-level re-format of the hard disk (you know that you have to boot from the Reference Diskette, then type Control-A when you're in the main menu to get to the low-level format option, don't you?) and reinstalled AIX. However, you might get away with writing the contents of the /etc/masterboot file to the Master Boot Record (not tested!).
