Title: TCP/IP SNALINK sessions fail to RE-AQUIRE Requirement: The IBM VM and MVS VTAM SNALINK sessions should re-establish after either partner is IPL'ed. Justification: TCP/IP production level service goals cannot be achieved without the re-establishment of the VTAM SNALINK sessions after either SNALINK partner machine is cycled. Currently the SNALINK logic does not reaquire the sessions. The IPL of both SNALINK IUCV address spaces and the cycle of each VTAM majnode is required to re-establish the SNALINK. This manual method of reconnecting the VTAM network does not bode well in large IBM production shops. *************************************************************************** Title: TCP/IP (FAL) TELNET LOGAPPL function Requirement: TCP/IP VM (FAL) should provide TELNET LOGAPPL capability. Justification: The IBM TCP/IP (FAL) product should provide SAA compliance with the VTAM SNA environments. The IBM MVS TCP/IP product currently provides TELNET LOGAPPL function, as it should. IBM should provide the same capabilities in both VM and MVS TCP/IP products. *********************************************************************** Don Smith Senior Software Engineer--Communication Systems General Electric Company CIT/Corporate Research and Development Processing ______ BITNET: SMITH@GECRDVM1 / | INTERNET: SMITH%GECRDVM1@crd.ge.com | | * _________/ | GEMS: GECRDVM1(SMITH) > 0 | DIALCOMM 8-235-1946 / | AT&TNET: 1-(518)-385-1946 |______________ | SNEAKERNET:General Electric Company `_ | Corporate Information Technology `__| 2500 Cambridge Road 2nd Floor East Wing Schenectady New York, 12345 FAX: 1-518-385-0654

>Title: > TCP/IP SNALINK sessions fail to RE-AQUIRE >Requirement: > The IBM VM and MVS VTAM SNALINK sessions should re-establish >after either partner is IPL'ed. The software already does this. Have you installed the MVS TCP/IP PTF tape? Perhaps you have a VTAM problem, not a TCP/IP problem. ----- Andy Hooper Queen's Univ.
