[net.followup] seat belts and speed limits - A question on German laws

plaskon@hplabsc.UUCP (Dawn Plaskon) (02/10/84)

How do they fit American, French, English, etc. drivers into their
nice scheme? It sounds heavenly, but if among the thirty Germans
driving down the Autobahn there are three Berkeley drivers a major
snarl could occur. Have you ever driven in Berkeley?

Driven in Berkeley? You've obviously never ridden in a New York cab, eh?

<This is a seat belt>

Seatbelts are mandatory in The Netherlands for the driver and front passengers.
Children go in the back on a special seat, also wearing seatbelts.

Maximum speed is 100 Km (Metric system, for those who don't know), allthough,
the everage speed is more around 120 on "autowegen" (Get your dictionary out).
This speed is tolerated.

The statistic's show less (letal) accident's after these rules have been
established.
