Has any one out there worked with the new NFS server on MVS? We currently trying to get it in shape to run in a production environment and I have a question concerning the length of time it takes to process a clients directory command. When I have mounted an index on our MVS system from a SUN running SunOS 4.0.x file access seems to work pretty well. But when I issue an ls command, it takes the MVS/NFS server about two minutes to respond. There was about 15 datasets in the list when it finally came back. When I set the "fastfilesize" option ls command worked much faster but then I don't get the exact file size. The question is, does anybody know of a way to speed up the directory listing process on the MVS/NFS server? Or maybe a way to take the "sting" out of the length of time it takes for directory processing? Also, are there any UNIX or DOS applications that would absolutely die from not having the exact file size? Jeff Schluep
