We would like to provide TELNET as another service on the list presented by our session manager (CL/SUPERSESSION), but it runs under MVS as a VTAM appli- cation and TELNET is only available here under VM (using IBM TCP/IP for VM). We are aware of SNA gateways that allow TELNET to the gateway to establish a 3270 terminal session, but we don't know if they work in reverse. In any case, what is the best way to provide TELNET client from a VTAM application? We run a similar configuration (Supersession on MVS with Telnet on VM). In our case VM is one option of the Supersession menu. When logged on to VM the user via a menu can use Telnet. Our local ethernet attached hosts are directly selected from the VM menu and a second panel is used if the user wishes to connect to any remote host. Peter

What I would like is a VTAM session manager (NVAS) TELNET selection menu... Any help with that ??? Don Smith-GE/CCS

I don't know the best way, but assuming that you don't want to use TSO TN3270, then there is a product called A-Net wbich provides TN3270 client services as a VTAM application under MVS. Note, this does not represent a product or vendor endorsement. -- Peter M. Weiss | (this line intentionally left blank) 31 Shields Bldg (the AIS people) | Don't FAX me, I'll FAX you!
