I don't recommend this practice either. My father-in-law, a former
SOL'er from the early '60s to the early 70's (Sprite, Alpine, Tiger),
told me when I bought my car that driving with the top down in cold
weather can contribute to a condition known as Bell's palsy. Apparently
this is a condition in which the facial muscles become partially
paralyzed, similar to Sylvester Stallone.

Now about my father-in-law. He was one of the lucky ones in that he
bought all his cars brand new. However, unlike some of us, he owned
only one British car at a time. In fact he sold his Tiger to a former
co-worker who still lives in town and drives it to work when the weather
is good (he's a professor at the local university).

Needless to say, I'm prepared to go into some serious hock to get my
hands on that piece of family history.

(I tried posting this a couple of months ago, the last time this subject
came up, but I never received it back from Alliant, so I assumed it
didn't make it to the list. If it did, and this is a repeat, my
apologies.)
