Because file space is becoming a premium at the interran ftp site, the site
is now located at a new place. Here are the instructions:
FTP
The program guide is available via anonymous ftp, already patched. If you
are having trouble, or need another copy (for whatever reason), you can
get it by entering the following commands:
ftp milton.u.washington.edu or 128.95.136.1
anonymous
guest
cd /public/guides/sttng
binary
get sttng.d.tar.Z or whatever filename
The following are the names of files that can be obtained:
total 1783
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 242827 Jan 25 14:43 ncc1701d.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 186865 Jan 25 14:43 sttng.d.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 462707 Jan 25 14:43 sttng.ps.nc.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 461107 Jan 25 14:43 sttng.ps.tr.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 28922 Jan 25 14:43 sttng301.d.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 38027 Jan 25 14:43 sttng302.d.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 44718 Jan 25 14:43 sttng303.d.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 cfogg 302422 Jan 25 14:44 sttng303.ps.nc.tar.Z
Here's what each compressed tar archives contain:
sttng.d.tar.Z data files needed to format the guide
sttng.ps.nc.tar.Z complete PostScript files to print for NewCentury
sttng.ps.tr.tar.Z complete PostScript files to print for Times-Roman
sttng301.d.tar.Z patches to update the data files
sttng302.d.tar.Z patches to update the data files
sttng303.d.tar.Z patches to update the data files
sttng303.ps.nc.tar.Z PostScript files to update the guide for NewCentury
sttng303.ps.tr.tar.Z PostScript files to update the guide for Times-Roman
Some people have asked what to do with the files once they ftp the files
because they've never used tar, so here's what they should do:
uncompress sttng.ps.nc.tar.Z
tar xvf sttng.ps.nc.tar
lpr *.ps
You may want to change the lpr command above to lp, or whatever your system
has as the print spooler.
If transferring the files to a SysV UNIX system, be careful to change the name
of the longer file names.
Other files may be available. Check with interran@lurch.stanford.edu for
details. Always give John a couple of days to get the latest files ready after
I release them.
ANONUUCP
The program guide files are also available via anonymous uucp from my system.
Here are the details:
Phone: 608-274-9275
Baud: 2400/1200/300 (use break to cycle)
Login: anonuucp
Password: none (it will not be asked)
The main directory is ~nuucp/guides. In there you will find a file called
dir.list. Get it, as it will list all of the latest files that are in the
guides' directory. After you get it, study it and then request the files
that you need. This area contains more than ST:TNG guides and lists. The
area will be under constant changes, as new lists and updates will be added.
