[rec.arts.startrek.info] Administratrivia

trek-info-request@scam.berkeley.edu (Jim "The Big Dweeb" Griffith) (02/14/90)

First, I'd like to apologize for <1990Feb7.182454.28205@sun.soe.clarkson.edu>.
This was not an approved article. I have submitted the appropriate
complaints and received the appropriate assurances that the person will
not do it again.

Ok, I have installed scripts that do automatic MH incorporation of any
mail directed to trek-info@scam or trek-info-request@scam. Hopefully,
this will greatly increase my organization and speed up my response
time. I'm pretty sure that the scripts work. If you receive a bounce,
send mail to griffith@scam.berkeley.edu or ...!ucbvax!scam!griffith.

Shortly, I will install a script which will tar off and compress the
directory that contains all of the r.a.s.i (hey, rasi. I like that)
articles and put them in a ftp-able location. This will allow me to
not have to worry about regular archival - it will be done
automagically. Once this is done, I will post the ftp information and
make it a part of the monthly introduction letter.

I will shortly issue another new newsgroup message, in the hopes that
that will take care of many of the sites which haven't created the
group.

On a further note, I am not responsible for the maintenance of the
Guide, the episode credits, or the STTNG stations list. Please do not
send requests to me. The people to contact are listed below, along
with the addresses I use to reach them.

    Guide - Mike Brown - vidiot vidiot!brown%astroatc.UUCP@cs.wisc.edu
Credits - Roger Noe - rnoe@urbana.mcd.mot.com Stations List - Chris
    Wayne - cwayne%hydra.unm.edu@ariel.unm.edu

I've received some letters from people who are thanking me for running
a group that avoids all of the "Re:" articles that r.a.s. has. You're
quite welcome. That is what the group is for. I am in the middle of
replying to everyone, but it may take me a while.

I would like to point out that like r.h.f., the group doesn't work if I
don't receive the submissions. For a while, I will probably start
badgering r.a.s. people - if I see an article that is appropriate for
r.a.s.i., I will send them a note saying so. I hope this doesn't
create more problems, and I'll try to be reasonable about it.

'Nuff said. I want to keep the administratrivia to a minimum.

				Jim
