[rec.arts.startrek.info] Star Trek Opera project DEAD!

dxs1417@cs.rit.edu (Grenadier) (12/15/90)

Well, the announced Trek opera project is toast.

My father is on the Volunteer Guild board for New York City Opera. This past
week they had a meeting with the General Director of the NYC Opera, Christopher
Keene.

When asked about the Trek project by a member of the board, Mr. Keene responded
that the project was "detonated." [sic]

Apparently, Paramount wanted the opening of the show to be September 8, 1991.
(Sound familiar?) When the opera said that it couldn't be done by then with
any semblance of quality, the whole deal blew up.

When are these guys going to learn? :-(
