Patrick Stewart is indeed in the new "L.A. Story" starring Steve
Martin... but he does not play a German restaurant owner. He plays
the Maitre D' at a FRENCH restaurant.
Yes, that's right, Stewart (with moustache!) finally gets to do a
French character. No doubt if we were to learn his character's name,
it would be British.. :)
For the record, he's in two scenes: in a bank with Martin, negotiating
on what kind of dinner Martin can have ("You can not have the duck," he
says. "You can have the chicken.") and at the restaurant (L'Idiot, for
those of you scoring at home) with Chevy Chase, who cameos as a
would-be star. Stewart doesn't allow him to get a good table, but seats
him at "Table 245" or somesuch..
