[rec.arts.startrek.info] Mike Dorn in Providence, RI

sager@screwdriver.Prime.COM (Leo Sager) (03/27/91)

Creation Con was in Providence, RI this last weekend. I found him to be
a pleasant humorous speaker, down to earth. He endured the typical
people who, for some reason, can't distingush HIM from the CHARACTER he
plays. (eg. Someone asked why he never had prune juice on Earth since he
grew up there. In fact he said that previous cons people have brought
him Prune juice. People.... this is an exact quote from Mr. Dorn

"I don't LIKE prune juice, Worf likes prune juice, I don't."
So don't bring him any, ok?

His manner of speaking was light and friendly and you could see him
connecting with the audience. If he comes your way at a Con, go see
him.

Ok, now for those of you screaming "GIMME A SPOILER WARNING!" you've
been warned...Here's what I found out about ST VI, and TNG.

ST VI: The Undiscovered Country - Starts Filming April 15th. They were
going to film some of it in Alaska, but due to budget reasons, they
aren't. It's SCHEDULED (and we know how schedules work) to be out on
Dec. 18th, 1991. At the end of ST VI, we will see how they got from the
MOVIES to TNG. This is the last Star Trek movie, WITH THE ORIGINAL CAST
(Important phrase). For those who care Sulu will be the captain of the
Excesilor (Spelling goof I know!). There will be some tie in to some
Klingon in TNG. Mr. Dorn said he is NOT in ST VI. Directed by Meyers,
Nimoy exec. producer.

TNG: The actors all signed a 6 year contract, so we are going to have 2
more years of TNG episodes coming. The contracts WILL NOT be renewed for
more TNG episodes due to costs. TNG is a popular show, but Paramount
apparently is not making ENOUGH (Who knows what paramount considers
enough) money on it. Patrick Stewart will be directing an upcoming
episide (the one before the season finale). The season finale IS a
cliffhanger, so get ready for it. The final episode of the trilogy about
Worf's honor is upcoming (See program list in this newgroup).

TASHA: Yea, Denise Crosby Wants to come back as a regular. Paramount
wants to give her a recurring role (Like Guinan,O'Brian, Q). No matter
what if she comes back SHE WILL NOT BE TASHA (So all you people who
think she comes back Tasha from the Enterprise-C in Yesterday's
Enterprise, drop it, it ain't gonna happen) She may come back as Tasha's
Sister (Not Sasha, another sister we haven't met before) but I think
it's still in the planning stages.

TNG MOVIES?: Possible, but not until they are done with the 6 years of
epidoses.

TNG: Next Season items:
The BORG will return - oooohhhhhhh (Did you know it took Stewart 5 hours
in makeup to be Borgified? 5 HOURS! It takes 2 hours for Worf's
Costume)
Worf's Parents will prob. be on

That's about all I remember, send flames to /dev/null
