Hello Net, Has anyone ever "played" with the MaxTransfer rate on a Q105S (or other Quantum ProDrive)? So far I have left it where the default had it because I don't usually go fooling around with number and making speed observations for days at a time trying to find the best. The reason I ask is...My drive isn't as fast as I feel it should be. This is particularly noticeable in one situation : Supposedly, if your drive is optimized and well maintained, the longer the file, the faster the transfer speed right? Well when I do a copy of DVideo III's DVMAKER file (approx 500k) to RAM:, I get three VERY short drive access flashes almost a second apart, and then it's finished. If I could put those flashes together into a stream, I would have that 500k moving in less than .5 seconds. I believe that playing with MaxTransfer would at least increase the length of the data bursts. I'm looking for a good value that provides the best performance and has been tried by someone. I have 5MB RAM if that affects anything. (I kinda doubt it would). Thanks for any help. -- _ Craig Lemon // |_| Kitchener, Ontario \X/ | | M I G A Amiga 2000 -- 2400 bps -- AmigaUUCP 1.03D ..!watmath!xenitec!wcbcs!lemsys!clemon ..!watmath!xenitec!wcbcs!{_clemon|AKCS.clemon} ^^ Not Reliable Yet "Yes, it's my real name!!"
