        A500 Tower Chasis

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
        What is it?

The A500 Tower is an alternative case
designed for the Amiga 500 computer.

    Why would anyone want one?

            So you can have:
                * A detachable keyboard (like the A2000, Macs, IBMs, etc)
                * Two front facing, fully enclosed 3 1/2" disk drives
                * Internal space for mounting other
                  useful things (power supply,hard
                  drives, A500 turbo cards (LUCAS/FRANCES)
                  internal memory boards, etc.....)
                * Frees up desk space.
                * Hides all those cables.
                * A snap to move around to meetings.
                * Made of heavy gage steel (not all Plastic)

        What's wrong with it?

            Currently
1 You install all of the components YOUR-SELF
2 You must make an extension cable for your keyboard
3 You mount your A500 keyboard in to supplied keyboard case
4 As of 1/31/90 We are unable to locate a source for an
EXPANSION card that mounts at a 45 degree angle to
Utilize the expansion bus. That means, if you are using
the expansion bus (anything attached to the left side of
your a500), DON'T BOTHER BUYING THIS CASE. Originally we
planned to mount a card internally that allows the use of
2 A2000 cards, but the ones we looked at cost at least
$200.00+ and needed modifications to mount at the 45
degree angle. Hackers, feel free to come up with your
own design. Meanwhile we 'll keep looking for a better
solution (We want A2000 cards in ours!). There is a TWO
INCH clearance between the expansion bus and the floor of
the chasis, so you can fit anything that fits that size
(such as the Palomax ST506 interface--if you made your
board no wider than 2"---BTW, this is being used in the
                   current prototype.)
READTHIS-> 5 This is NOT a commercial product and is not intended for
novice users. If you have never openned your A500 or done any
soldering or wiring, DON'T BOTHER BUYING THIS BOX! We intend
this to be a solution for hardware hackers who have added or
built things to their A500 and would like some kind of chasis
                   to hold it all together.

These dimensions were taken off of the prototype model

                    Tower: keyboard:
                         height 16" Width 19"
                         width 7 3/4 " Length 6 1/4"
                         length 15 1/2"

            What do you get?
              * A500 Tower case made of heavy 18 gage steel (rust proof)
                with black plastic face plate.
              * Black plastic keyboard case.
              * Mounting brackets for: two 3 1/4" drives
                                        power supply
                                        Hard drives

                PRICE ....................$ 140.00 PLUS shipping/handling

** If you just need the keyboard case, it can be
                                had for $25 PLUS shipping/handling

DISCLAIMER:
We take NO RESPONSIBILITY for damage or lost of equipment (or life!)
incurred by installation of this chasis. Note that taking apart your
           A500 will void CBM's warrenty.
