[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] 1702 monitor on a1000 WORKS!

hansb@carina.unm.edu (Hans Bechtel PSYCHOLOGY) (02/13/90)

I bought my a1000 in feb '86 (and recd it in april '86 from a lousy dealer
here in albuq) and as circumstances would prevail, and since the dealer
wouldn't give in, I did NOT get a free monitor with my system. Since I
didn't have the income at the time to purchase a new monitor, I decided
to use the 1702 monitor from my c64.

I found out, surprisingly enough, that if I plugged the composite cable
into the front of the monitor, the colors would be beautiful, but the
resolution lacked a bunch. When I plugged the composite cable into the
back of the 1702 monitor (in the luma slot) and turned up the color to the
maximum level, I got extreme resolution (well, the best possible with this
monitor) and the colors were less intense. certain color combos would
cause a wavy line to appear, but I worked around that problem by
using neutral color combos (equal levels of RGB).

I have been using 80 columns with this monitor since 1986 with the amiga
and still find it very readable (even though when I upgrade to a newer
system, I will love to get a new monitor...).

I hope this little bit of info helps....
