Hello, Recently I had the distinct displeasure of having my a500 keyboard bite the big one. It all started with the return key being very hard to use, and after repeated cleanings the problem has worsened and eventually spread to many other keys (about 10% of the keys on the keyboard do not work now). I dont know why this happened, but I figure that maybe the membrane is extremely sensitive, particularly to inexperienced keyboard cleaners. Anyway, on to the reason for this posting. I have read about the mods needed to make an a2000 keyboard work on an a500, and I am very willing to do this, particularly if they keyboard will have real keyswitches instead of a plastic membrane and rubber contacts (conductive rubber? who would ever believe such a thing?). Well, my local dealers say it will take quite a while to get a keyboard for me (2 weeks minimum) so in the meantime I would like to find alternate sources. However, I must be sure that what I am getting is the real a2000 keyboard, and not one of those silly rubber spongy things. After having called ampex (advertises in the back of amiga world) and talking to the manager I was left with the distinct impression that he had no idea what he was selling, but he did mention that he thinks they have the rubber kind. Can any of you out there help me? it's very hard having all that fine computing power sitting on my desk with no way to get at it. What I would like to know is any experiences with mail order keyboards that you have to report, and any information you may want to add about putting an a2000 keyboard on an a500 would be appreciated. Thanks. -riyadth -- ------------------------------------------------------------- riyadth alkazily ucdavis!csusac!riyadth
