This is all hardware isn't it...? I've summarized the following info from a local BBS and seems fairly reliable. Further comments or info would be appreciated. A3000 DEBUTS IN PARIS!!!!!!!!! * 68030 16 or 25Mhz on the Motherboard (asynchronous)! * 32 bit bus for memory and I/O (backward compatible with ZorroII) * 50 Mb hard drive (don't know if SCSI) * 2 megs Chip Ram! * Flicker-Fixer included * 1.4 ECS giving virtual screen 1280 x 485 pixels w/wo interlace. * Smaller nicer case with PC slots and 4 Amiga expansion slots. * Power switch on front, keyboard connector on side. * Price unknown :-( ! I'm a little disappointed that newer graphic modes were not introduced but feel the 32 bit bus plus asynchronous 68030 will make this one quick machine! I can't understand what the reason would be for including a Flicker fixer, when the ECS has a 480 line, non interlaced mode, and on top of that, the flicker fixer is a 3rd party board, and unless Commodore bought the rights to it, I can't see them putting one in a 3000. >The BBS I got this from is JDR-BBS located in San Jose, Ca (408) 559-0253 Why woudn't we here this from Europe first? -- +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Ralph Doncaster Don't Steal - The Government hates competition. | |880274d@AcadiaU.CA 329 CHI, Acadia University, Wolfville, NS B0P 1X0 | |UUCP: {uunet|watmath|utai}!cs.dal.ca!aucs!880274d BITNET: 880274d@Acadia |

Last I heard, Amiga could do only 640 horizontal - 1280 sounds like quite a step up, although 485 vertical isn't anything to scream about. :-) JKT100 -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- || Kurt Tappe (814) 862-8630 || "This town needs an enema." || || 600 E. First, I don't really buy this post since CBM people are saying it is a rumor. BUT, Isn't the Productivity mode (1048x480?) something like 4 color. Isn't the flicker fixer 768x480 with 16 color. Couldn't you gain from having both? DW

It takes good old American ingenuity to come up with false reports like this. Simply amazing that the 3000 debuts with no announcement, no press release, half a dozen new "features", and we only hear about it from a BBS in California. Give me a minute and I'll announce the A4000 with the Mr. Fusion power pack... then we can all discuss THAT, too. (In other words, this is fairly obviously not the debut of the 3000. It is apparently the debut of a stand-up comic.) -Chris ---- Chris Lang University of Michigan, College of Engineering home: 4622 Bursley work: National Center for Manufacturing Sciences Ann Arbor, MI 48109 900 Victors Way, Suite 226 (313) 763-1832 Ann Arbor, MI 48108 chrisl@caen.engin.umich.edu (313) 995-0300 "I hate quotations. You asshole! You were not supposed to announce the A4000 yet! An you were not supposed to tell anyone that it will be powered by a cold fusion engine! Now the introduction of the A4000 in Siberia (really cold fusion!) is going to be a flop! Commodore is going to sue you for the $10,000 stipulated in the non- disclosure agreement you signed in Geneva! Valentin -- The Goddess of democracy? The reson why I didn't respond was I was disappointed. If all the A3000 a 2500 with a 68030 and enough of 1.4 working to use the slighty upgraded versons of the new chips --- then I won't be saving up my pennines for it. As for the ficker fixer part, I don't care, my eyes have become quite used to flicker. I really truely hope this so called A3000 is not the real thing. Wayne Knapp
