I am in the process of getting a second floppy drive for my Amiga 500. A friend of mine has had a MAST Unidrive for his 500 and has had no problems with it. I notice that MAST has now come out with a successor to this drive that has additional features (such as detecting writes to the boot sector), but don't know if this new version is worth the extra money. Also, Centaur has been advertising something called "The Silent drive" that does not click when the disk is removed. Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with any of these (or OTHER) drives? I would also like to know of your experiences with the mail-order firm(s) you bought your drive(s) from. Please Email replies, unless you think they would be useful to many other readers of this group. Thank you! --Mark Whiting

I have had no problems out of it compatability-wise or performance-wise. I have been happy with my purchase. It was $169.00 from my local dealer. However, you can get it mail order for about $123 from Computability. I bought it from my dealer from support reasons, but Computability seems to be pretty reputable. In any case 2 drives is a must for any real use from the Amiga. Good luck... PS. I am not affialiated with any of the above named companies, just a happy customer. ________________________________________________________________________________ Disclaimer: I'm a student, I don't think that they think that I think, you think?? bjordan@hobbes.cs.scarolina.edu | Internet gatech!ncrcae!usceast!hobbes!bjordan | UUCP -- -- [generic signature] UUCP: ...usceast!calvin!username
