[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] 1.44MB 3.5" Drives For Amiga

Well, what's the potential for replacing the existing 800K drives with
PS/2 compatabile 1.44MB drives on future Amigas? As I understand it, these
drives (like the AT 1.2MB drives) physically operate at one of two
different speeds; 300RPM and 360RPM. With the Amiga's space-efficient
formatting, we should be able to get 1.6MB of storage on these drives. Wouldn't
this also require changes to the data separator on Denise & some extra control
speed select logic?

The 1.44 MB drives are the new standard, and not that much costlier than the
800K drives; these are getting harder and harder to find.
