[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] 5 1/4 Drive 1.2Meg Disk ?

jwilliam@esunix.UUCP (Jerry Williams) (02/27/90)

I have been thinking about using a 1.2Meg 5 1/4" drive in a 2000.
What I would like to do is be able to read an IBM format 1.2Meg 5 1/4"
disk. The question that I would like answered is what hardware do I
need to do it. If I buy a 1.2Meg drive can I hook it up and use
something like MSH or CrossDos? Do I need a bridge card?

Thanks for any help!

In order to read a 1.2M 5-1/4" floppy on the Amiga, you need a different
disk controller. I presume you could do this with a BridgeBoard, but
haven't a clue as to how. You certainly can NOT do this just by plugging
the device in, because of the Amiga's disk controller (such as it is)
limitations.
