[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Info available on mouse interface on A2286?

harald@boink.UUCP (Harald Milne) (04/11/90)

I am looking for any information I can get on interfacing the
Amiga mouse to the A2286. I have an old Amiga Technical Reference
manual, but there is no information pertaining to the mouse
interface.

What I am trying to do this: Interface the mouse to SCO Xenix
running on the A2286 bridgecard. Writing a Xenix device driver to
do this is not a problem, but I don't have all the pieces to do
this on the Amiga. Xenix doesn't use the PC bios, which really
doesn't matter anyway since the AMouse driver is external anyway.

Is this information available now in some form from CATS?

Of course, If anybody has already done this, I would like to
hear from you!

On another note, this site (boink) is really an Amiga 2500/20
running SCO Xenix 2.3.2, Honey DanBer UUCP and B news 2.11.19 on
the A2286.

I know my uunet map entry says otherwise.

This arrangement is nice, the only capability I'm missing now
is interfacing the mouse to Xenix.

Another idea I had was to have a high-speed bus channel between
Xenix and the Amiga. (Another driver, sigh.) Currently the only
interface I have is a very slow serial connection between the Amiga
and Xenix for file transfers.

Having a high-speed bus interface would be way too cool. It
would also free a serial port on the Amiga and the PC.

If anybody would like to see this on the Amiga, let me know.
It would help my motivation to do this, since I dread dealing
with Intel CPUs! 8^)

Anybody using SCO Xenix on the Amiga? (Dan Schein excluded, I
know he is.)
