I thought Bryce said during his talk at the Paris Devcon that he'd figured out
a way of decoding the MFM data "for free" while calculating the checksum (or
vice versa) and so it was actually faster to do it via software. Has this idea
been scrapped? (This is veering away from comp.amiga.hardware; sorry.)

I can only second this. And I haven't even touched one yet :-) All the info
etc. that's been flying around is making me _really_ impatient waiting for
CBM UK to ship me out my development system....

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the results of DiskPerf on the 3000.
Anyone like to oblige?
