[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] ROM Upgrades for A2620, A2286, A2088

bhand@undergrad.cs.ubc.ca (Bruce Hand) (05/04/90)

Could someone from Commodore provide more information regarding the Tech
Bulletin announcing the ROM upgrades for the A2620, A2286, A2088 ?
--ie. what the upgrades fix, and if the upgrade for the A2088 applies to
the Sidecar as well. Thanks.

I'd like this information as well. Better yet, I'd like the original
tech bulletin! Did CBM send this out to registered owners?

Also, are there any plans to update the ROMS on the 2090(a) to fix
the SCSIDIRECT bug?

Tech bulletins are distributed to all authorized service centers, so the
best plan is to get in touch with one... Call the Commodore number in
the paper that came with your system if you don't know where to find one.

I wouldn't hold your breath for any 2090(x) enhancements.

Hmm, maybe I should ask "Will the 2090(x) be supported by future system
enhancements, such as Amiga Unix, AmigaOS based Tape Drives etc. ?

Amiga Unix probably yes, other products maybe. I can't really say,
since such things haven't been announced in any case.

Your question really translates into writing a new Amiga DOS driver for the
2090 - this has somewhat lower priority than new software development tasks.

Well, I don't want to cause panic but a dealer told me that for Unix on the
2000 series, you need a 2091.
