[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] A3000 "Flicker Fixer" & Genlocking

schur@venera.isi.edu (Sean Schur) (05/29/90)

I am aware that the Amiga 3000 has a built in image enhancer which serves
the same purpose as the Flicker Fixer card. I am also aware that to use
the Flicker Fixer card with a genlock you need an additional piece of hardware.

My question is this: Is the additional hardware needed with Flicker Fixer
because of a quirk in that card or a problem multi-syncing with a genlock?
So basically I am asking if I will need an add-on with the 3000 image
enhancer to use my genlock? Is/Will such an add on be available?

The A3000 Display Enhancer is somewhat compatible with internal and
external genlocks. Not only will the Display Enhancer not interfere
with the operation of the genlock but the Display Enhancer will
continue to de-interlace/scan-double the Amiga's RGB display so that
simultaneous output of 31Khz Amiga video and 15Khz NTSC/PAL overlay
video and graphics from the genlock can occur. For more information,
the "Introducing the A3000" manual, Appendix C is very helpfull.
