[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Low video output levels from Amiga 500

Help C=...

I am having problems with low video output levels on two Amiga 500s. It
appears that what should be a little over 0.7 volts (100 IRE units) is
instead more on the order of 0.5 volts (70 IRE), with the chroma levels down by
a corresponding amount.

This appears to be consistent with the observations published in one of the
Amiga magazines a couple of months back. It seems the video levels out of
different Amiga models can vary at least this much.

The problem is that feeding these low video levels to the RGB inputs of a video
projector or a DigiFeX(CMI) VI500 encoder result in dark, poor looking
pictures. I would assume any other encoder or genlock that lacks video gain
adjustments would have the same problem.

Can someone at C= document what the situation is and ways to correct it?

Alternatively, does anyone else know of a fairly cheap way to boost and adjust
the three RGB signals up to standard.
