AREA:UUCP_HRDWR Ross, it sounds as if the 1488 and 1489 data in/output u38 and u39 respectively. These chips are common and can be purchased at Radio Shack. Generally if you plug something in or out of the serial port that is hot, these are the first to go. They will cause the system to act totally dead. Check this first, before you buy a new board...also with all of the weather we have had in the midwest, I see this problem at least once a week...hope I was able to assist...Mike -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFIT Amiga Users BBS/UFGateway |Mike Miller - via FidoNet node 1:110/300 1:110/300 Dayton, Ohio |UUCP: afitamy!210!Mike.Miller (513)-252-7681 |ARPA: Mike.Miller@f210.n110.z1.FIDONET.ORG ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
